This is a brand new battery, with recent date code.

It is a fully sealed AGM (absorptive glass mat) cell. This is a more modern design that replaces the wet/flooded cell design and is a safety improvement. The cell is fully sealed, and can be used in any orientation, though if you have a choice then siting with the terminals on top makes the most sense.
