Hi all. I have an APC 1500RM 2U and bought the rebuild kit, but I'm struggling removing the old batteries from the tray.
They are stuck with the 3M tape, but I can't figure out a way to get to it to ether cut it or pull it off.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Howdy Tim.
To get the cells out you can prise against the old batteries in the cracks using a chisel, screwdriver or something similar.
    To remove the old tape
1/ sometimes you dont need to, if the VHB tape tacks to what remains, that can be good enough
2/ Otherwise you can use a combintion of
    a) label remover fluid - soak then scrape off
    b) hair dryer - heat the tray itself then scrape
    c) make a wooden scraper to help apply force when getting it off.

Perfection is not needed, just a surface to stick the new ones on to. FYI we often get UPS in that have not used tape and they are OK just rattling around. Nothing can short, its just not best practice

Hello! Nice to have another helper giving advice Isabella.
The hair dryer is a good idea - heat the metal tray from the bottom.
I'm not sure a putty knife is strong enough
